We were assigned with the daunting task of pairing chocolate with our favorite beverages. It was tough, but we made it happen. When pairing sweet treats with wine, try to go for a wine that is sweet or slightly sweet for a successful pairing. Very dry wines and desserts just don’t work well together. We also worked with bourbon, brandy, and beer during our experiments to find the best pairings to help you celebrate love on Valentine’s Day.
Binny’s Beverage Depot not only offers the broadest selection of wines, beers, and spirits. We’re also staffed with the most knowledgeable enthusiasts in the industry, and we’re thrilled to share our opinions and discoveries with you. Here are some of our absolute favorites and recent discoveries. All are ready to enjoy tonight!
A big thanks to everyone who headed to Binny’s this morning to stock up on today’s limited Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout release! Those who braved the lines went home with some excellent beer. And looking forward to next year, we’re listening to your feedback to make the event even better including upgrades to our register system and Lincoln Park location line process. We’d love to hear your thoughts – please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
One issue we’re working to fix is incorrect tax charged on the Northwoods release. This issue only occurred at registers in our Lincoln Park Tasting Room. If you made your purchase at the front registers at our Lincoln Park location, or at any other Binny’s location, this isn’t an problem. Due to a programming error, those who purchased Northwoods at the Lincoln Park Tasting Room were charged extra soft drink and food tax. The general tax charged was correct.
Here’s what you need to do for a refund:
– If you paid credit, you will be refunded the extra tax automatically. Keep an eye on your account. Please allow around a week for processing, but your refund is coming back to you.
– If you paid cash, please bring your receipt back to your favorite Binny’s for a cash refund on the extra taxes charged. If you are unable to make it to a Binny’s, please email us at email@example.com and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Thanks again for your patronage and feedback. We’re looking forward to an even better event next year. Cheers!

Who’s ready for another exciting #GooseBlackFriday? Seriously, we say this every year but this is going to be the biggest and most exciting release yet. Binny’s locations across Chicagoland will all release Bourbon County Brand Stout when doors open on Friday, November 24th, with the grandest release of them all right next door to the (newly renovated) Goose Clybourn brewpub at our Lincoln Park location.
Here’s what you need to know:
When Binny’s beer guru Roger Adamson suggested that we learn how to infuse our own barrel aged stout, hosts Kristen Ellis and Jeff Carlin were all over it. Using a French press has never been more rewarding! After listening to this episode you’re bound to try it yourself.
With Halloween just around the corner, hopefully candy and costumes are covered, but what about the beer? If you’re looking for a pumpkin beer, the Barrel Aged Schlafly mentioned above is the way to go. If pumpkin’s not your thing, or if you’re looking for something a little different, give these treats a try.
It’s that time of year again… fresh hop season! The hop harvest is a joyous occasion where freshly plucked hop cones head straight off the bines and into the kettle. Okay, in many cases it means overnighting the hops across the country, and Lagunitas did just that for their super dank, super wet and super tasty Born Yesterday Pale Ale. We wanted to be there for its birthday, so we called up our friends at Lagunitas and headed over for a visit.
Born Yesterday is all about freshness. Freshly picked hops are usually dried and processed as quickly as possible in order to prevent spoilage. For Born Yesterday, freshly picked “wet hops” from the Yakima Valley are the key component of this amazingly flavorful and aromatic brew.
Stout aged in bourbon barrels – an experiment born at Chicago’s own Goose Island Brewing Company. Bold aromas, layered complexity and rich mouthfeel all made Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout one of the most treasured beers on the market. Binny’s is proud to continue the tradition of hosting one the largest annual releases of this iconic beer for nearly a decade. Over the years we’ve seen its fanbase swell, with devotees desparate for details on each year’s unique variants. The Beer Buzz paid Goose Island a visit for a sneak peek at the 2017 Goose Island Bourbon County lineup. Surrounded by barrels in their massive new warehouse, we drew our first tastes.
This year, we accepted 40+ entries and the top 10 were judged by beer legend and Boston Beer co-founder, Jim Koch. We were blown away by the incredible homebrew entries and had a blast drinking some delicious Sam Adams beers with Jim Koch. Congratulations to all of the homebrewers who placed or took the time to handcraft and homebrew their entries for the 10th Annual Binny’s Homebrew Contest sponsored by Samuel Adams. Winners and photos below. See you next year!
UPDATE (8/1/17): The following homebrewers have advanced to the final round:
-Aaron Liga/Alan Diebel
-Joe & Tom Fuentes
If you did not advance, but would like your score sheet, they will be available for pick up at the final event, or email Hilary@binnys.com.
We have hosted the Binny’s Homebrew Contest for ten years… can you believe it? We have another great contest lined up this year. Once again, we’re excited to host guest judge Jim Koch. Best known as Samuel Adams Founder, Jim Koch will pick the winner this year, and award the coveted first prize: a trip for two to the 2017 Great American Beer Festival in Denver.
